Cloud Security Advisor

Location: This position will work a hybrid model (remote and office). An ideal candidate must live within 50 miles of one of our Elevance Health PulsePoint locations listed here: Atlanta, GA; Indianapolis, IN; Norfolk, VA; Richmond, VA; Houston, TX; Dallas, TX; Washington, DC; Tampa, FL or Hanover, MD.

The Cloud Security Advisor acts as a trusted advisor in Cloud Security Governance conducting new adherence reviews and consults with Business Units going into Google Cloud Platform(GCP) and Azure. This individual will consult and support enterprise information security policies, technical standards, guidelines, procedures, and other elements of an infrastructure necessary to support information security, in order to keep it compliant with established company policies, regulatory requirements, and generally accepted information security controls.

How you will make an impact :

  • Provides technical support to business and technology associates in risk assessments and implementation of appropriate information security procedures, standards and technologies;

  • Conducts compliance assessments by understanding business objectives, structure, policies and procedures, internal controls, and external regulations.

  • Performs continuous readiness and remediation tracking of cloud services and applications compliance, consult on managing risks for data protection and partners on application/platform cloud security risk reviews.

  • Documents system technical operations, manual and automated processes and controls using descriptive and risk-focused narratives.

  • Assesses the effectiveness of process and management controls against cloud control requirements defined to maintain required access, data and privacy protections.

  • Recommends changes and updates to strategy;

  • May organize the efforts of other analysts as part of risk reviews.

  • Leads root cause analysis efforts

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Requires BS/BA degree in Information Technology or related field of study and a minimum of 5 years experience in systems support, system administration, system engineering, system security, access management, network security, network communications, computer networking, telecommunications, systems development and management, hardware, software, and/or data; or any combination of education and experience, which would provide an equivalent background. Requires experience in planning and designing highly complex systems.

Highly Preferred Skills, Experiences and Competencies:

  • Advanced GCP or Azure knowledge and experience

  • Understanding of security concepts in GCP or Azure

Preferred Skills, Experiences and Competencies:

  • Cloud Risk Models

  • Ability to apply cloud security to applications/platforms

  • AWS and OCI experience and/or knowledge

  • Assessment/audit skills

  • CSA CCM knowledge

  • Expertise in determining adherence to cloud requirements

  • Google Cloud Certifications: Professional Cloud Security Engineer, Professional Cloud Architect (with an emphasis on security experience)

  • Azure Certifications: Security Engineer, Security Operations Analyst or Identity and Access Administrator

  • Security Certifications: CISSP or other technical security certifications (e.g. Systems Security Certified Practitioner, Certification and Accreditation Professional) strongly preferred.
