POSITION OVERVIEW

DESCRIPTION OF DUTIES/ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

  • Assists with special projects such as ARC/View/ Citrix upgrades for Wastewater Operations managers.

  • Complies and processes data to be inputted into an IMS program for work orders of sanitary sewer rehabilitation, cleaning and television inspection contracts.

  • Works with a team that is responsible for sanitary sewer rehabilitation and renewal analyses to achieve established goals and committed schedules.

  • Investigates and responds to citizens’ complaints related to rehabilitation, cleaning and television contractors.

  • Prepares work orders maps using GEO LINK system mapping and INFOR Public Sector (IPS) databases.

WORKING CONDITIONS

The position occasionally requires stooping or bending. Occasional very light lifting, such as three or four reams of papers or books (up to 20 pounds or an equivalent weight) may be required.

This is a Department of Houston Public Works Emergency Management position at the Tier III Level.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS

EDUCATIONAL REQUIREMENTS

Requires an Associate's degree in Engineering, Drafting, Designing or closely related field.

EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS

Four (4) years of related experience, such as engineering, drafting and/or designing are required.

Directly related professional experience may be substituted for the education requirement on a year-for-year basis.

Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Drafting, Design or a closely related field may be substituted for the education and two years of the experience requirement.

PREFERENCES

Sanitary sewer maintenance rehabilitation, work order issuance and a working knowledge of Geographical Information Systems and Infrastructure Management System is a plus.

Preference shall be given to eligible veteran applicants provided such persons possess the qualifications necessary for competent discharge of the duties involved in the position applied for, such persons are among the most qualified candidates for the position, and all other factors in accordance with Executive Order 1-6.
