Position Summary

The Columbia University Medical Center/Presbyterian Hospital Division of Neurocritical Care within the Department of Neurology is currently hiring a VHO Clinical Research Coordinators (CRC) - PRN - for all Nights/Weekends/Holidays - Students, Postdocs, Certified CRCs, EMTs, Paramedics, RNs are strongly welcomed to apply.

Responsibilities

  • Coordinates and conducts research protocols in a manner that ensures quality, consistency, timeliness, accuracy and patient safety.

  • Confirmation of qualified potential subjects for the clinical research study assigned as outlined in IRB approval protocols and performing study procedures; CRC will work with study physician on call (POC) to confirm subject eligibility. Upon confirmation CRC will come on-site (within 30 minutes of confirming) to assist in protocol specific procedures.

  • Follows protocol specific time line and procedures for subjects who are active in a NeuroICU clinical research trial.

  • Becomes thoroughly familiar with the protocol, case report form, informed consent, source documentation, and study medication(s) for the assigned research study.

  • Working in conjunction with hospital clinical staff and communication with the treating teams.

  • Performs appropriate research protocol procedures which may include, but are not limited to: ensuring that all required physiological assessments and recordings are being completed/collected (i.e., vital signs, pregnancy tests, radiological tests, ECGs, etc); all study related specimen processing & storage, and acute stroke assessments.

  • Performs basic lab procedures, such as: specimen processing as per study protocol, centrifuge operation, storing of lab specimens, accountability of specimens.

  • All other projects as assigned.

  • Approximately 90% of the work can be accomplished remotely (screening/identifying study subjects/communication with clinical team) but candidate must be able to arrive to CUMC campus within 30 minutes when/if there is a potential study candidate.

  • Must be able to work rotating schedule which includes evening and night shifts, weekends and holidays.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent in education and experience required.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Degree in a health-related field or some health related experience.
  • Excellent communication skills (interpersonal, written, verbal).

  • Strong attention to detail.

  • Excellent time management and organizational skills.

  • Health Sciences/Clinical/Research experience a plus.
