General Purpose

Provides technical and engineering support to the mining operations at the surface mine which includes all phases namely system design, concurrence, project management, and cost tracking. These projects may require preparation of request for proposals, equipment acquisitions, capital cost tracking, mine planning, preparation of property evaluations, and developing long-term mine strategies.

Responsibilities

  • Design surface plans and systems to ensure proper functioning of dragline production, mobile equipment production, drilling and blasting pattern designs, reclamation planning, dozer planning, maintenance and repair of CAT CAES and Aquila computer systems. - Plan and design construction projects related to surface facilities. - Assist in coordinating, developing and providing short term and long term mine plan design, layout sequence, schedule and timing. - Assist in evaluations of mining methods, product evaluations and time and motion studies. - Provide technical assistance and monitor operations to ensure plans are being followed or updated as required. - Assist in tracking, reconciliation and reporting of mine production, shipments, transfers, volumetrics, and royalties. - Maintain mine permit area in compliance with all federal and state regulations. - Develop equipment specifications and justifications for new and replacement equipment. - Ensure that projects are completed timely, cost efficiently, and safely. - Assist in coordinating and monitoring work of external consultants, contractors and regulators.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in engineering. • Minimum of two years of related experience in engineering and mine operations. • Demonstrated knowledge and application of mine operations, engineering and financial analysis. • Project management and leadership skills including the ability to work as a team member, maintain project timelines, budgets, and deliver on commitments. • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills involving the ability to work cross-functionally to understand requirements, present alternatives, and recommendations. • Ability to perform effectively in high-pressure situations while maintaining focus and calmness. • Understanding of company’s business, relevant policies, procedures, and practices. • Knowledge of applicable federal, state, local laws and regulations. • Proficient with the use of personal computers and automated tools, including mine planning software. • Willingness to obtain certifications such as fireboss, foreman, high, medium and low electrical voltage, surface and underground blasting certifications.

Preferences

• Professional engineering certification.
