Purpose
As a Payments Product Owner, your primary responsibility will be to drive the real time payments industry & internal direction, enable internal teams, make value-based decisions using market trends & actively contribute to Scotiabank’s evolving payments modernization strategy. The Product Owner will collaborate closely with lines of businesses, Sales, Operations, Product Teams, and other stakeholders whose business model will take advantage of the Real Time Payments capability (e.g. API first strategy). This individual will have deep knowledge of the payments domain while ensuring a highly visible and transparent understanding of the value, priority and impact. They will lead the Real Time Payments journey through active alignment of work being shaped, accepted and ultimately delivered by the Enterprise Payments teams.
What You’ll Do:
Actively engage, participate & shape industry & internal strategies/execution associated with the Real Time Payments capability
Engage with industry stakeholders (e.g. PayCan, Interac, Other FIs, etc.) to collaborate on shaping industry direction
Actively participate in the multitude of Industry forums to bring Scotiabank’s eminence to the industry direction
Leverage industry knowledge/direction to enable Scotiabank to bring leading edge services to our external and internal customers
Direct the evaluation, approval, execution & value measuring of strategic real time payments services to Lines of Business’ strategy objectives of increase revenue, customer growth, reduction in cost, and seamless experiences:
Supporting the definition of enterprise business model, strategy, process, KPI, benefit and experience for Scotiabank
Bring the Real Time Payments business model, strategy, etc. to the Lines of Business and Customer Segments to support their strategic objectives
Owns the Product Backlog of MVPs and maintains its priorities industry trends, internal strategy while ensuring top MVPs are execution read
Leads the development and ongoing tracking/reporting of business & delivery KPIs (e.g., dashboards)
Collaborates with Subject Matter Experts (SMEs) to shape real time payments strategies, define executable MVPs and customer oriented with specific tactics to address opportunities and barriers by:
Engaging with internal stakeholders and partners to seek understanding and exchange ideas; ensure communication is positioned in terms that are easy to understand by a diverse group & gain credibility and buy-in on directions
Ensuring awareness of market and trends in the business environment; using research and available analysis to help inform ideas
Drive change management efforts within Enterprise Payments by:
Conducting needs analysis/analyzing recommended and/or implemented changes
Preparing workflows/procedures to ensure new functions/processes are integrated into the operational environment
Ensuring proper determination of workflow effort differences between existing and recommended processes
Serve as a facilitator and relationship-builder among key stakeholders with sometimes competing priorities
What You'll Bring:
7+ years experience managing complex business and technology projects
Bachelor’s degree required
Formal agile designations such as CSPO, CSM would be an asset
Strong understanding of global payment operations, clearing and settlement, including Payments Canada Real Time Rail impacts
Working knowledge of payment operations surrounding clearing & settlement, and FI cash & treasury management activities would be an asset
Work Arrangement:
Regular travel based on business need will be required between our Toronto and Scarborough offices.
Work in a standard office-based environment
