Burns & McDonnell Air Quality Project Manager - Environmental Services (Wallingford, CT) in Wallingford, Connecticut

Burns & McDonnell’s Northeast Region is looking for an Air Quality Project Manager to manage air permitting and compliance services to the power, industrial, commercial, transportation and manufacturing industries in the Mid-Atlantic Region. The Air Quality Project Manager will work within our Environmental Services Global Practice and perform the following duties:

  • Prepare air permit application packages and associated documentation.

  • Conduct environmental site assessments and inspections to ensure compliance with local, state and federal air quality requirements.

  • Perform emission calculations and estimates for routine emissions, as well as greenhouse gas and maintenance, start-up and shutdown emissions.

  • Work with client and team members to manage projects, budgets and timelines.

  • Assist with multi-media-based questions and document preparation, such as Stormwater Pollution Prevention Plans (SWPPPs), Spill Prevention, Control and Countermeasure (SPCC) Plans, and filings pursuant to the Emergency Planning and Community Right-to-Know Act (EPCRA).

  • Ensure compliance with company and site safety policies.

  • All other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in environmental science or related science or engineering degree from an accredited program plus minimum 7 years (10 years preferred) of applicable experience.

  • Completion of a master's degree in a related field may be substituted for 1 year of experience.

  • Previous consulting experience related to air pollution permitting and compliance and/or multimedia environmental compliance audits, environmental management systems, and report writing preferred.

  • Demonstrated knowledge of federal, state, and local air regulations with emphasis on the Clean Air Act, including New Source Review/Prevention of Significant Deterioration, National Emission Standards for Hazardous Air Pollutants, New Source Performance Standards, Title V Permitting, Title VI Ozone Depleting Substances.

  • Working knowledge of air quality dispersion models such as AERMOD, AERSCREEN, CALPUFF, VISCREEN, PLUVUE and SLAB, is a plus.

  • Sustainability background is a plus.

  • Ability to clearly communicate both verbal and written technical information.

  • Strong attention to detail and the ability to follow complex requests.

  • Must be proficient in the use of computer software (i.e., Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint).

Compensation Range

$125,000-$215,000

The expected compensation range for this position is displayed in compliance with all local/state regulations. The expected compensation range for this position is based on a number of factors, including but not limited to: individual education, qualifications, prior work experience and work location. The total annual compensation package will consist of a base salary and eligibility to participate in our discretionary year-end incentive bonus program.
